Zinc Flake

ASTEC 1000 Zinc Flake

Zinc Flake is another high end sacrificial corrosion protection coating, however one which offers a number of significant characteristic that electroplating cannot. One of the most important benefits of this process is the absence of Hydrogen and hence elimination of the risk of Hydrogen embrittlement to high tensile steels. The process allows clients to have the appearance and finish flexibility of paint systems but with the coating and protection benefits of electroplating. In comparison to other aesthetically similar products, i.e. powder paints and electrophoretic paints, Zinc Flake’s sacrificial properties offers protection around areas of in-service damage, even though the layer is much thinner than those of the paints. Our spray application makes the process ideal for larger and/or more intricate components or those that require controlled application and masking.
